Now that you have a value for your BMI, you're either:
Underweight, normal, overweight or obese.
- If you're underweight, your body is not getting the nutrients it needs to build a healthy body. This fact causes several side effects including fatigue, anemia, irregular periods and premature births (for women), slow or impaired growth, thining skin, hair loss, poor dental health and risk of developing serious health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain cancer.
- If you're in the normal range, you're maintaining a healthy weight which is important for overall well being. However, as you grow older, if you continue eating the same types and amounts of food without being physically active, you will probably gain weight, because your metabolism can slow with age.
- If you're overweight or obese, you have a high chance of developing a range of serious medical issues, affecting nearly every part of your body which include the brain, blood vessels, heart, gallbladder, bones and joints.

HOW DO WE GET FAT ?
Fatty acid happens when energy intake is high, and energy demands are low. In other words, your body packages and stores fat when you eat more than you burn through metabolism and activity. So energy has to go somewhere. If it's not expended as heat, movement or some other metabolic activities, your body has to store it as fat. Energy balance is the ultimate equation that determines weight loss or gain. If your body takes in more energy than it needs or uses, it will gain weight. If your body takes in less energy than it needs or uses, it will loose weight. Your body intakes, outputs, have to be tracked to know what's the right amount of food your body needs.
